It was the third time I was going to film a music video for Isa. Like almost every time we both were very busy and time to plan a big shoot wasn't an option this time.
But we knew that together we could achieve results that we were both happy with in a short space of time.
The Song Apple Tree is about Isa herself.
We casted a little girl who is also coached by Isa in singing, to complete the storytelling. It was a perfect match.
Everything was set. Location scouting, dancers with a choreo, Isa herself as a small child,
and a small assist team of 3 people. But not everything went as planned. The day of filming was completely rainy and cold and not warm and sunny as planned. We had to rethink, use the dry minutes and make everything look as if we were out in the sunny countryside.
Since we were pretty tight on time and the release date was already set, we couldn't afford an alternative date, so we shot anyway.
It's all about light, creativity and color grading!
Handheld camera and some gimbal action • Shot on Sony A7IV • Small setting with only one small LED and a reflector.
Everything was filmed in SLOG3 and color graded and edited in Premiere Pro. The look I wanted to achieve was pastel, sunny and warm. Of course, the bad weather made this difficult.
